Dr. Fisher graduated from Duke University magna cum laude with a degree in Philosophy and then went on attend medical school at Duke University School of Medicine, where he graduated with Honors. He completed an internship in general medicine at the prestigious Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California before his residency in ophthalmology at the world renowned Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Fisher is the author of numerous scientific publications and is a Contributing Author of the First Edition of the Wills Eye Manual, the largest selling book in ophthalmology.
Dr. Fisher is an active researcher, clinician, consultant and mentor, and considered a key opinion leader and innovator in the field of ophthalmology. He has lectured nationally and internationally, and serves as a consultant to industry. As a refractive cataract surgeon, Dr. Fisher specializes in advanced technology lens implants which allow for reduced or no glasses wear after surgery. Dr. Fisher has also been a pioneer in both femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery and intra-operative wavefront aberrometry, providing greater precision and improved results for his patients.
Dr. Fisher volunteers with Eye Care America and Operation Sight, and was also recognized as the Founder of the surgical eye care clinic for the Flying Samaritans in Tecate, Mexico. In his time away from the office, Dr. Fisher enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. He is a pilot and enjoys tennis, golf, and traveling.
