Dr. Griffith graduated from the University of Virginia, where he was an Echols Scholar. Dr. Griffith earned a Masters Degree in Neuropharmacology at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport prior to entering medical school. Next, Dr. Griffith earned his medical degree at LSU – Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, where he also completed his Ophthalmology residency.
Dr. Griffith served as Chief Resident during his residency. Following his residency, Dr. Griffith completed a Fellowship in Cornea Diseases and Surgery, laser vision correction and cataract surgery at Eye Consultants of Atlanta.
Dr. Griffith was among the first eye surgeons in the Pine Belt to perform one visit, blade-free LASIK, as well as laser-assisted cataract surgery. Dr. Griffith was one of the first surgeons to introduce corneal inlays for the correction of reading vision in the U.S.
Dr. Griffith is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology where he serves on the Editorial Review Board for the Focal Points publication. He also holds memberships in the OOSS Society for Ambulatory Surgical care, the American Academy of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the Cornea Society, and the Refractive Surgery Alliance. Dr. Griffith was also selected to be a member of the by-invitation only Society for Excellence in Eyecare (SEE) where some of the top surgeon thought leaders in the U.S. come together to share and discuss the latest advances in medical and surgical eye care.
