Dr. Mark Heimmel, M.D.

Mark Heimmel, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and surgeon at Eye Care Specialists in East Windsor, New Jersey. Dr. Heimmel is highly experienced in vision correction surgery, performing over 30,000 procedures since 2006.

Dr. Heimmel has been honored with many awards including Top Ophthalmologists in America, Compassionate Doctor Award, Patient’s Choice Award, Castle Connolly Top Doctor, NJ Top Docs, and New York Magazine’s Top Doctors. As a result, he is among the most chosen ophthalmologists by other doctors and nurses for their own care.

Dr. Heimmel is the founder and medical director at Eye Care Specialists, where he carries his vision is to deliver the highest level technology to improve the sight of his patients. Dr. Heimmel believes that each patient is unique and loves spending time with them to discuss their treatment goals and needs.

Dr. Heimmel was selected to join a prestigious BA/MD program at Rutgers University. He graduated with high honors and then went on to complete his residency training at Brown University Warren Alpert Medical School.

He has also published numerous articles in esteemed medical journals on treatments for age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy.
