Dr. Andres Parra is the lead refractive, lens, and cataract surgeon at Pacific Vision Institute. A top-of-class graduate of Baylor College of Medicine and a Chief Resident at the UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute, he is the recipient of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Excellence Award and was among the first surgeons in the United States to perform cataract and lens surgery using the Light Adjustable Lens. Dr. Parra has performed thousands of lens, laser, and cataract surgeries for patients from San Francisco, across the Bay Area, and from around the world. He was also one of the first surgeons in the US to perform surgery utilizing a novel concept of Minimally Invasive procedures to treat ocular conditions. His work has been published in numerous professional journals.
In demand, Dr. Parra has been invited to lecture extensively in the US and abroad. He has presented his work at the multiple ophthalmic meetings, including American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Parra has served on Faculty at the University of Houston College of Medicine and Optometry where he trained the new generations of eye care experts. Dr. Parra is the Co-Chair of the prestigious Annual Advances in Eye Care San Francisco Symposium and a board member of the Science of Eyesight Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to ophthalmic innovation and education. He is the co-author of the upcoming book Seeing Clearly: An Evidence-Based Guide to Modern Laser, Lens, and Cataract Surgery.
Dr. Parra is considered one of the top experts in lens replacement and cataract surgery in the country, utilizing the most advanced lens implant technologies, such as Light Adjustable Lens, numerous multifocal and EDOF design lenses, and toric lenses.
