Dr. Soroudi is an internationally recognized, board-certified, subspecialty-trained ophthalmologist specializing in vision corrective surgery, cataract and lens replacement surgery, ophthalmic surgery, and eyelid plastic surgery. He has personally performed more than 30,000 cataract and lens replacement surgeries, over 30,000 LASIK and corneal refractive procedures, and thousands of eyelid and conjunctival procedures, earning recognition as one of the most experienced and respected experts in his field.
Dr. Soroudi completed his undergraduate studies in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Southern California (USC), graduating near the top of his class with magna cum laude honors. During his time there, he received the prestigious Howard Hughes Award for his research in gene therapy.
He later earned a Master of Science degree in Physiological Science from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), completing the two-year program in just one year. His thesis research at the UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute studied the use of radiofrequency technology to remove tumors within the human orbit.
Dr. Soroudi then attended the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, where he obtained his medical degree. While in medical school, he was awarded a fellowship by the U.S. government to conduct research in ocular gene therapy at the National Eye Institute at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). His research focused on potential treatments for severe genetic eye diseases such as Retinitis Pigmentosa and Macular Degeneration.
After medical school, Dr. Soroudi completed a surgical internship and then his ophthalmology residency at Los Angeles County Hospital, where he served as chief resident and gained extensive experience treating complex eye conditions at a Level I trauma center.
He later completed a clinical fellowship in Kerato-refractive surgery under Dr. James Salz and Dr. Yaron Rabinowitz, specializing in all-laser LASIK, PRK, and corneal implant procedures for irregular astigmatism and Keratoconus.
Dr. Soroudi also trained with renowned cataract surgeon Dr. Samuel Masket, further refining his expertise in complex cataract and lens replacement surgery. He has authored the book Advanced Refractive Surgery, published research in peer-reviewed journals, and holds multiple U.S. patents related to ophthalmic technology.
Dr. Soroudi serves as a volunteer Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology at the UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute and speaks fluent Farsi and Spanish, with working knowledge of Italian.
