Education: Dr. Mac received his undergraduate training at Boston University where he double majored in Biology and Economics. He did his medical training at Wake Forest University where he was one of only 2 students selected into the prestigious dual MD/MBA degree. Dr. Mac then completed his internship in Internal Medicine followed by 3 years of Ophthalmology residency at the University of Louisville.
Professional: Upon completing residency, Dr. Mac founded Metrolina Eye Associates in 2004. Dr. Mac is the author of numerous papers in the field of Ophthalmology and has lectured on the local, national, and international level. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and has been named one of the nation’s top cataract and refractive surgeons according to the Consumers Research Council of America.
Special Interests: Dr. Mac specializes in LASIK and PRK and various refractive surgeries, including no-stitch cataract surgery, and the implantable contact lens. He works with the industry to help develop and market new innovations that improve the standard of care. Dr. Mac also practices comprehensive ophthalmology including diabetic eye care, glaucoma management, and routine eye exams.
Personal Background: A native of Southern California, Dr. Mac has called Waxhaw, NC home for the last several years. He is married and has twin daughters and a son.
