Neel S. Vaidya, MD, MPH was born in New Jersey and raised in central Ohio. Dr. Vaidya completed both his Bachelor of Science and Medical degrees at The Ohio State University where he was enrolled in the accelerated honors BS/MD program. Dr. Vaidya also completed his Masters in Public Health (MPH) degree while in medical school. Dr. Vaidya moved to Chicago to pursue his residency training in ophthalmology at Loyola University Medical Center, where he was elected Chief Resident during his final year of training. After completing advanced training in cornea, external diseases, and refractive surgery during his Fellowship with Chicago Cornea Consultantsâ„¢, he joined the practice as a full-time associate in the summer of 2021.
Dr. Vaidya is passionate about providing medical and surgical care for patients with a variety of ophthalmologic diseases, with a specific interest in corneal transplantation and refractive surgery. Dr. Vaidya also has an interest in disorders of the eyelid and oculoplastic surgery as well. Dr. Vaidya’s research interests include optimizing endothelial keratoplasty techniques, evaluating new treatments for dry eye and other ocular surface diseases, and evaluating refractive outcomes in patients undergoing cataract surgery. Dr. Vaidya has published several articles in several well-respected peer-review journals, has served as a reviewer for journal articles and research grants, co-authored book chapters, and has presented at national medical conferences. He currently serves as an associate professor of ophthalmology at Rush University Medical Center.
In his spare time, Dr. Vaidya enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter, playing golf and tennis, and exploring Chicago’s premier restaurant scene.
