Steven M. Silverstein MD, FACS is a board certified ophthalmologist and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Following his residency in ophthalmology at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston, Dr. Silverstein completed his fellowship training in Cornea and External Disease at the Kellogg Eye Center, University of Michigan, where he also served as clinical professor.
Dr. Silverstein is founder and president of Silverstein Eye Centers in Kansas City, Missouri, in practice since 1991, and Medical Director/half owner of the Blue Ridge Surgical Center. The practice has a large research department involved in every phase of clinical research for pharma, surgical device, the FDA, and NIH, having served as principal investigator or medical monitor in nearly 130 clinical trials.
Dr. Silverstein is a nationally and internationally recognized lecturer and author, and serves as clinical professor of ophthalmology at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He holds a patent in the development of a component for robotic pool cleaners, and has invented surgical instrumentation sold worldwide which bear his name.
Dr. Silverstein is married to his college sweetheart, Beth, between them having 6 children. Dr. and Mrs. Silverstein live on a lake where they love waterskiing and all manner of water sports, as wells as snow skiing and scuba diving, and Steve plays classical piano and rock percussion.
