J. Morgan Micheletti, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in and has performed thousands of cataract and refractive eye surgeries. His clinical interests include advanced cataract surgery, surgical correction of presbyopia, cutting-edge refractive surgery, microinvasive glaucoma surgery, complex IOL management, diabetes, glaucoma, and dry eye.
Dr. Micheletti attended The University of Texas at Austin, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology with Special Honors. In addition to being an honors scholar, Dr. Micheletti earned multiple endowed scholarships, was a University of Texas Distinguished College Scholar, and was selected as an inaugural member in the Freshman Research Initiative which generated multiple scientific publications. After graduating from the University of Texas with High Honors, Dr. Micheletti obtained his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine, where he was the president of the Baylor College of Medicine Ophthalmology Interest Group. He completed an internship at Emory University School of Medicine before starting his residency training in Ophthalmology at the prestigious Emory Eye Center.
At Berkeley Eye Center, Dr. Micheletti has served as both principal investigator and sub-investigator on numerous industry-sponsored clinical trials and his work has been published in many medical journals. He is an innovator who has created multiple surgical instruments as well as the “punch and rescue” technique for dislocated IOLs.
He is a fellow of the American Board of Ophthalmology and an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Texas Ophthalmological Association, and the Houston Ophthalmological Society. He is a patient advocate and was an American Academy of Ophthalmology Advocacy Ambassador two years in a row where he worked with leaders in Washington to improve eye care nationwide.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, woodworking, snowboarding, and golf.
